The festival channels the free-flowing ideas of various artists and shows process-oriented productions that might be difficult to realise in an institutional setting. In various brainstorming sessions, artists from different disciplines are brought together to develop new transdisciplinary ideas and productions with focus on music.
This years edition of the festival will take place from 16 – 23 June, 2024. Different new production will be performed in various locations as well as public areas in the city of Zurich. As a center of the festival, Provitreff Zurich was chosen.
As an incubator, guerillaclassics develops and presents projects in various formats, degrees of specialisation and publics. As a laboratory for new ideas, projects are developed in a process-orientated manner and over longer periods of time in order to repeatedly and iteratively find their way into the public eye or even go their own way as a spin-off. The biennial free flow festival serves as an important presentation and scouting platform.
An important principle of guerillaclassics is the decentralisation of the programme design. On the one hand, this breaks through established decision-making and power structures, but also multiplies the impact of guerillaclassics. This also applies to the free flow festival: for the free flow festival 2024, a group of guerillaclassics alumni and alumnae will act as mentors and enablers in various brainstorming sessions to initiate new projects and accompany them in terms of content. Artists from past projects, who are constantly expanding the guerillaclassics network, are the most important ambassadors for guerillaclassics. They not only play an important role with their artistic input, but also initiate new projects time and again.
