WHAT'S UP GUERILLACLASSICS?

Lucerne Festival
Zum ersten Mal in den vergangenen neun Jahren seit es guerillaclassics gibt, arbeiten wir offiziell und in grossem Rahmen mit einer Schweizer Kulturinstitution für klassische Musik zusammen: Dem Lucerne Festival – in diesem Sommer, in der letzten Augustwoche.
Was in der Badi Utoquai und auf den Strassen von Zürich begonnen hat, ist jetzt im KKL Luzern und als Installationen in der Stadt Luzern zu hören. Wir laden herzlich dazu ein, diese neue Zusammenarbeit mit dem Lucerne Festival und seiner Akademie mit uns feiern zu kommen. Das Festivalthema in Luzern dieses Jahr ist: „American Dreams“. Gemeinsam mit den eingeladenen Kurator*innen und Künstler*innen – Dr. Jessie Cox (Komponist, Perkussionist und Assistenz-Professor an der Harvard-Universität), Simone Keller (gefeierte Schweizer Pianistin), Dr. Doreen Ketchens (die Legende aus New Orleans, Klarinettistin) und vielen anderen alten und neuen Gesichtern – stellen wir u.a. die Frage, was es bedeutet in unserer Zeit, in der die USA Geburtstag haben, dieses Thema auszuwählen. Welche Musiken und Geschichten werden derzeit aktiv zurückgedrängt bis abgeschafft und was bedeutet dies? Wenn wir in der Musik zu Amerika träumen, was beinhalten diese Träume dann?
Komm mit uns mit und bezeuge selbst, was die Kurator*innen Andres Bosshard, Hiromi Gut, Severin Kolb und tracy september für Antworten auf diese Fragen gemeinsam mit dem Lucerne Festival Contemporary Orchestra und den eingeladenen Künstler*innen bereithalten.

In Zürich hat gerade das 3. free flow festival stattgefunden und die Zusammenkünfte lokaler und internationaler Musiker*innen haben viele Ideen und Inspiration ausgelöst, wie die Musikstadt Zürich durch das 10-jährige Jubiläum von guerillaclassics gelebt werden kann.

Jubiläum: 10 Jahre guerillaclassics
Schon bald wird es mehr Informationen dazu geben – jetzt schon mal vorab: Am 12. Juli 2027 wird guerillaclassics 10 Jahre alt und hunderte von Musiker*innen sind über das letzte Jahrzehnt zusammengekommen, um in diesem Netzwerk gemeinsam zu wachsen, Neues zu lernen und künstlerische Ideen umzusetzen.

Lucerne Festival
For the first time in the past nine years since guerillaclassics was founded, we are collaborating officially and on a large scale with a Swiss cultural institution dedicated to classical music: the Lucerne Festival – this summer, in the last week of August.
What began at the Badi Utoquai and on the streets of Zurich can now be heard at the KKL Luzern and in the form of installations throughout the city of Lucerne. We warmly invite you to join us in celebrating this new collaboration with the Lucerne Festival and its Academy. This year’s festival theme in Lucerne is: ‘American Dreams’. Together with the invited curators and artists – Dr Jessie Cox (composer, percussionist and assistant professor at Harvard University), Simone Keller (acclaimed Swiss pianist), Dr Doreen Ketchens (the legendary clarinettist from New Orleans) and many other familiar and new faces – we will, amongst other things, be asking what it means in our time, as the USA celebrates its birthday, to choose this theme. Which kinds of music and stories are currently being actively suppressed, to the point of being eradicated, and what does this mean? When we dream of America through music, what do these dreams entail?
Join us and see for yourself what the curators Andres Bosshard, Hiromi Gut, Severin Kolb and tracy september offer in response to these questions, together with the Lucerne Festival Contemporary Orchestra and the invited artists.

The 3rd free flow festival has just taken place in Zurich, and the gatherings of local and international musicians have sparked many ideas and provided plenty of inspiration on how the music city of Zurich can be experienced through the 10th anniversary of guerillaclassics.

A first glimpse: On 12 July 2027, guerillaclassics will celebrate its 10th anniversary. Over the past decade, hundreds of musicians have come together through this network to grow, learn from one another, and bring artistic ideas to life. More information will be available soon.
