At the heart of this exhibition are six small ceramic figures from the region around Puebla, Mexico. Known as Antiguas, they were once revered as "lords of the earth" and buried by rural communities for future generations. They were meant to bring rain, fertility, and health. Yet they were found by people who no longer knew theirfunction. This particular relationship between generations and knowledge is made tangible at the free flow festival on several levels. Antiguas Sonoras gives the figures a new role by bringing them together with the outcomesof a fermentation workshop. Like the figures themselves, fermentation is a symbol of cyclical knowledge. With workshop and the opening of exhibition.
