Nach einer über einjährigen Projektphase – von ersten Ideen während der Brainstorming-Runden zum free flow festival 2022 über erste Aufführungen eines Prototypen in Zürich, Lubumbashi und Marseille bis hin zur einwöchigen Probephase im April – kommt "The Uninterrupted Song for the City", den Sinzo Aanza in Zusammenarbeit mit guerillaclassics und verschiedensten Kreativen entwickelt hat, Ende Juni in seiner finalen Form erstmalig nach Zürich. Doch um was geht es in "The Uninterrupted Song for the City" überhaupt? Die beiden Kurator*innen des Projektes, Samuel Kortey Baah und Lynhan Balatbat-Helbock, schreiben über das Projekt:
"Das Projekt versetzt Mitarbeitende wie Zuhörende gleichzeitig in eine Stimmung des Lernens, Heilens und Schaffens, indem es die kolonialen Beziehungen, die in Museumssammlungen verankert sind, hinter sich lässt und mit der Aussenwelt ins Gespräch kommt [...]. Das Projekt ist nicht nur eine Reise in ein äusseres, sondern auch in ein inneres Archiv. Viele der eingebetteten Klänge, die in der von einer künstlichen Intelligenz kompilierten digitalen Struktur gespeichert sind und eine Vielzahl von Genres umfassen, sind auch in den Archiven unserer Körper präsent. Diasporische Klanglandschaften, deren Gemeinsamkeiten vielleicht nicht auf Anhieb erkennbar sind, verbinden kontaminierte und aktivierte Musik über Kontinente und Regionen, über Mauern und Generationen hinweg."

Das Rahmenprogramm: Talk / Party im Umbo
Willst du noch mehr über die Hintergründe zum Projekt erfahren? Dann am besten während unseres Talks: Künstler Sinzo Aanza und Kuratorin Lynhan Balatbat-Helbock und weitere Gesprächspartner*innen laden zu einem Artist-Talk in den wunderschönen Rieterpark ein.
Und um das Projekt gebührend zu feiern, kommen die Musiker*innen am Samstag 1. Juli nochmals zusammen und bringen euch gemeinsam zum tanzen: Die Party im Umbo steigt mit Jere Ikongio, Rokia Bamba, Eden Sekulović, Huguette Tolinga, Vincent Glanzmann und Lynhan Balatbat-Helbock.

Zürich hat drei neue Limmatschiffe. Vollauf elektronisch schwimmen sie fast geräuschlos über den Zürichsee. Zur Taufe im März wurde aber nochmals richtig Lärm vom Feinsten gemacht: Zusammen mit Tauchern der Wasserschutzpolizei Zürich, dem Seemannschor Thetis Crew vom oberen Zürichsee und Brandy Butler wurde den Schiffen ein dem Anlass gebührendes Ständchen erbracht.

After a project phase of more than a year - from the first ideas during the brainstorming rounds for the free flow festival 2022 to the first performances of a prototype in Zurich, Lubumbashi and Marseille to the one-week rehearsal phase in April - "The Uninterrupted Song for the City", which Sinzo Aanza developed in collaboration with guerillaclassics and a wide variety of creatives, will come to Zurich in its final form for the first time at the end of June. But what is "The Uninterrupted Song for the City" all about? The two curators of the project, Samuel Kortey Baah and Lynhan Balatbat-Helbock, write about the project:
"The project positions its collaborators and listeners in learning, healing, and producing mood concomitantly as it turns beyond colonial relations embedded in museum collections to being conversance with the outside world [...]. The project is not only a journey into the external but also into an internal archive. Much of the embedded sounds that are held within the digital structure compiled by an artificial intelligence and hold multiplicities of genres, are equally lingering present in our bodily archives. Diasporic soundscapes, that might not be instantly perceived as common ground, cross contaminated and activated music beyond continents, regions, crossing walls and generations."

The supporting programme: Talk / Party at Umbo
And to celebrate the project in a fitting manner, the musicians will come together again on Saturday 1 July and make you dance: The party at Umbo will feature Jere Ikongio, Rokia Bamba, Eden Sekulović, Huguette Tolinga, Vincent Glanzmann and Lynhan Balatbat-Helbock.

Zurich has three new Limmat boats. Fully electronic, they float almost silently across Lake Zurich. For the christening in March, however, noise of the finest kind was made: together with divers from the Zurich Water Police, the sailors' choir Thetis Crew from the upper part of Lake Zurich and Brandy Butler, the ships were serenaded in a manner befitting the occasion.
